Welcome to ITEps
NHL Stenden Meppel is the most intimate of our campuses. It hosts the unique course International Teacher Education for primary schools (ITEps. ITEps is the first full bachelor programme which trains students as teachers in International schools.
The course uses design based education as methodology and aims to train students to become independent thinkers, educational innovators and to inspire children to be active and engaged in their learning. The ITEPS course touches on many important topics such as multicultural understanding and managing the multicultural classroom. 
The students and staff in our course come from all over the world (over 40 nationalities), are eager to explore other cultures but also want to get involved with and contribute to the local community. Our students are very engaged and organize a variety of activities like festivals, concerts, conferences, movie nights, pub quizzes, etc. But they also help out at local schools giving English lessons and provide language courses for people in the neighborhood.

Our Meppel campus offers diverse options for student accommodation near the university. The city of Meppel is small, but friendly and welcoming. The city itself and the surroundings offer everything you need and Amsterdam airport is only ninety minutes by train. You could say we are well connected to the world.

International Teacher Education for Primary Schools (ITEps)
If you are looking forward to making a meaningful contribution to children’s education around the world, then this course is certainly the best start of your international career. NHL Stenden IT

This course offers a state-of-the-art programme in Software Engineering.

In the first year, the foundations are laid with subjects such as programming languages, connections, databases, and web technology.

Alongside the technological subjects, you are taught communication skills for an international environment. You also learn the different aspects of information technology and how to work in small groups on real case studies. In this process, you will have meaningful and informal contact between with the lecturers. In the second, third and fourth year of the programme, you specialise in software engineering, do an internship, and complete the course with a final project. A degree in Information Technology gives you considerable work and career opportunities. It also assures you of a strong position in the international job market. You may even choose to start your own business or become self-employed – the choices are practically unlimited.

Certified Ethical Hacking
NHL Stenden is the only university of applied science in Europe to offer the minor Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH). Are you eager to learn how perimeter defences work and how you can scan and attack (virtual) networks? Would you like to learn more about how to escalate privileges and how to secure a system? Then this minor might be an excellent choice. This is a comprehensive ethical hacking and information systems security auditing programme. It focuses on the latest security threats, advanced attack vectors, and practical real-time demonstrations of the latest hacking techniques, methodologies, tools, tricks and security measures. You will first gain an understanding of how perimeter defences work and then move onto the scanning and attacking of networks. Of course, no real network is harmed during this programme. In addition, you will learn how intruders escalate privileges and which steps they should follow to secure a system. CEH consists of several core modules designed to facilitate a comprehensive ethical hacking and penetration testing training.
